Golf-ish but with more modern more aggressive looks ... Kia have really breached the style gap with both this and the new Optima ... will take one for a test drive before I buy again (considering a Polo GTi atm). available in 3- and 5-door body styles, the Rio "combines European finesse with Korean spice to create a form language that communicates Latin flair." While we're not so sure about the latter statement, the redesigned model has a sportier front fascia, distinctive headlights, and a prominent C-pillar.
Compared to the outgoing Rio, the new car is 55mm longer, 15mm lower, and 25mm wider. It rides on a 2,570mm wheelbase, which is stretched 70mm over its predecessor. Thanks to these changes, the cabin is roomier and cargo capacity climbs to 292 liters (3-door) and 390 liters (5-door).
Under the hood, a variety of engines will be offered including a turbocharged 1.2-liter GDI petrol and a 1.1-liter diesel with 70 PS (51 kW / 69 hp).
The 2012 Rio will be unveiled on March 1st, so stay tuned for full details.
