I really like the new Infiniti design language, but I don't really like any of the cars that have gone into production under its use. None seem to be far off the mark, but they all seem to need just a little more or a little less of something. The Essence concept seemed more successful to my eye than the cars it has inspired.
There are some design languages or styling themes that just seem all wrong from the beginning. The Bangle behind, flame surfacing was never salvageable to me. Ditto for the Mercedes droopy dogs. The Essence style seems really close, but just not quite there in execution.
Designed to preview an entry-level model, the Etherea "blends elements of coupé, sedan, hatchback and even crossover in one highly sculptural, near-mono volume form." Overall, the concept measures 4.4 meters long and features a panoramic glass roof, an illuminated grille, and a distinctive C-pillar.
While no interior pictures were released, Infiniti says the cabin has high-tech variations of traditional Japanese materials and finishes.
The car will be officially unveiled on March 1st, so stay tuned for more information
