New 2011 Saab 9-4X unlikely to offer a diesel

Speaking with Automotive News, Saab CEO Jan Ake Jonsson stated the crossover is unlikely to offer a diesel option. As he explained, "...we have to find one, we have to test it, we have to install it, validate it, and you are two years into the life cycle." Considering the 9-4X is expected to exist in its current form for five to six years, Jonsson says a diesel would have a "very short payoff period."

While this decision will certainly hamper sales in Europe, the 9-4X was primarily designed for American consumers who should find the 265 PS (195 kW / 262 hp) 3.0-liter V6 and 300 PS (221 kW / 296 hp) turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 more than suitable.

After putting in so many laps that I can barely walk right now (Road Atlanta is a very physical racetrack, think California’s Infineon Raceway but way faster—top gear 186 mph on the dash) I now have a reasonably good impression of it.

The biggest thing that stands out in my mind is how well the traction control system works. I spent the majority of the day in Level 1 which is the least amount of electronic intervention and designed specifically for riding at the track.

It is quite a bit different feeling than the production TC systems employed by Ducati 1198S and BMW S1000RR sportbikes. As opposed to their systems which cut in rather aggressively at times and can penalize your drive off corners, the Kawi set-up works much more unobtrusively. It actually felt similar in some ways to the ultra-expensive Magneti Marelli wheel spin system employed on Mat Mladin’s championship winning American Superbike we tested last year in the 2009

The one thing I love about the current Azera is that it is classy and actually looks expensive, this one is quite different but from these images have to say it will be great succesor .I find that to be a very ignorant comment. Well this is definitely better at least. It still has some flaws, which imo it shares with the Legacy as well. The wheel arches are too large and pronounced, they might be alright if they were blended out into the side panels a bit more but there's no subtlety here. The front fascia feels over designed to me as well, and in general the car looks larger in the photos than the previous generation which i really don't like. I really wish manufacturers would resist the urge to make each new model bigger than the previous one. Still, a great improvement over the current car.

Overall the car was great however, when we picked the car up the alignment was off so it had to back in the shop. Second, the paint is starting to get very small rust spots all over the body which after using my finger nail, I discovered their coming off. What's troubling is the silver trim under the windows has small rust spots as well which are not coming off. We paid an extra $500 for that paint and it's disappointing to have your first new car with these cosmetic problems. I'm expecting more in the future so it's good that I have a good warranty.

Honda brings its 250 sportbike to the South Asia (Indonesia, Thailand, malaysia) with the new 2011 Honda CBR250R. "This is really an amazing machine we're adding to Honda's list of models for 2011," said Honda Powersports Press Manager Bill Savino. "The CBR250R is specifically aimed at new riders, yet it's packed full of high-tech features and offers great performance, all in a lightweight, affordable package. This new model expands another segment of the market for Honda buyers." True, the 250 power and performance may not generate as much excitement as near 200 horsepower production Superbikes, but the little CBR250R is Honda’s biggest news in the 2011 sportbike model lineup. The new CBR’s chassis features a non-adjustable 37mm fork, with Honda’s Pro-link rear suspension offering five-position preload adjustment. Steering geometry consists of a 25-degree rake and 95mm (3.74 inches) trail. Wheelbase is 53.9 inches, while seat height rings in at 30.9 inches. A small bike, th  e CBR250 rolls on street standard 17-inch wheels, with a claimed curb weight of 359 pounds (Ninja 250 375 pounds).
Stylewise the new CBR looks an awful lot like the new VFR1200, particularly the layered fairing. Instrumentation behind the tallish windscreen is an analog tach sitting atop a digital speedo, which is centered on the blue backlit LCD area.
The biggest question mark with the little Honda is its price tag, which is still to be determined. Kawasaki’s Ninja 250R retails for $3999. Recently speaking with Kawasaki reps, we learned the Japanese marque is willing to break even on the 250 with the rationale that a Ninja 250 purchase today equals a Ninja ZX-6R or ZX-10R purchase tomorrow. And how integral is the Ninja 250 in the Kawasaki lineup? It’s the top-selling unit!
Big Red will offer up an CBR250R which utilizes the companies combined ABS technology.

True, the 250 power and performance may not generate as much excitement as near 200 horsepower production Superbikes, but the little CBR250R is Honda’s biggest news in the 2011 sportbike model lineup. The CBR250R will be built in Thailand and launched globally in November.

To they need to offer a small low emission car in there range to be able to produce bigger V8's etc. so Ferrari, Lambo will all have to follow suit somehow unless they can hide under there parent companies banner... i.e Fiat and VAG group? not sure about that.Land Rover has released full details on the upcoming Range Rover Evoque 5-door. The Evoque in the 5-door body style sports more room than the 3-door coupe variant. It's 30 mm taller than the 3-door and there's 50 mm more shoulder space for the rear passengers. A full-sized glass panoramic roof also provides a sense of spaciousness for the cabin.

Under the bonnet will be two diesels, both 2.2 liter power plants, one configured to 150 PS (110 kW) and the other to a livelier 190 PS (140 kW). A 2.0 liter direct-injection, turbocharged petrol/gasoline engine will also be available, topping the engine range output offerings at 240 PS (177 kW).The 5-door Evoque, like the 3-door coupe, comes standard as a FWD, with AWD offered as an option.Technology goodies available will include a park assist function, adaptive headlights, a 5-camera surround camera system and an entertainment package with two 8-inch video screens for the rear passengers.The model will debut at the Los Angeles motor show later this month and will be rolled out shortly afterwards in markets around the world.

Prices in Europe will start at around £30,000/€35,000.

The front end styling is swoopier than before. The dimensions are stretched as well, with the wheelbase 2.5 inches longer than the 250 version at 60.4. Piaggio touts a fully-redesigned underseat storage space, which now includes a courtesy light, document compartment and a claimed 50% more capacity.
A wide array of accessories will be available, with the new BV expected in the same timeframe as the MP3 city. MSRP is to be determined with the current BV 250 retailing for $4899.
